Taking advantage of greater demand spurred by government incentive, Ford will increase its production by 10,000 cars.
From Detroit Free Press:
Ford Motor Co. today announced it is increasing production by another 10,000 vehicles, to 495,000 cars and trucks in the third quarter as it builds more fuel-efficient vehicles to meet consumer demand under the federal cash-for-clunkers program.
Ford’s planned third quarter production now exceeds year-ago production levels by 18%
As the Free Press reported earlier this week, Ford and the UAW are working to ramp up production of the Ford Escape small crossover at the company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, as well as the Ford Focus compact car assembled in Wayne. The local factory will see additional production shifts and increased overtime.
