Saturn's days are numbered after recent talks with Penske Automotive Group (PAG:NYSE) fell through. Penske was unable to find an auto manufacturer to produce the cars after GM stops making them in 2011.
The Saturn brand was born in 1985 as a subsidiary of GM to combat the growing adoption of Japanese imports. Now it joins fellow GM brands Oldsmobile and Pontiac in retirement. Dealers have the task of saving about 13,000 jobs from about 350 dealerships nationwide.
